WHAT ARE THE "[TiC] Clan Servers' Windows
Desktop Shortcuts"?:

This page allows you to
download a zipped file that contains a folder
with the "Windows Desktop Shortcuts"
that will launch you directly into a
particular "[TiC] Clan server". IF
you installed Half-Life in the DEFAULT "path"
(C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe), then all you
have to do, is download our small zipped
file, unzip it to your Desktop or some safe
place, and then double click the Desktop
Shortcuts to quickly and easily join on a [TiC]
Clan server anytime you want. The "[TiC]Clan
Servers' Windows Desktop Shortcuts" look
like the original install shortcuts that come
with a mod, except the shortcuts have been
set to load you into specific [TiC]Clan servers when you
double click them. See
the "Installation Instructions"
section.
NOTE:
-IF-
you installed Half-Life into a -NON-DEFAULT-
path,
then you will need to follow our "Installation
Instructions" -PLUS- do our "HOW TO EDIT
OUR SHORTCUTS:" section to correct
our Shortcuts to your "path" to
"hl.exe" and "icons".

INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS:

This
assumes you have the Half-Life (full
version) software installed already and
have tested the game to work properly on
the internet. Also, if you want a
shortcut to a "mod" to work (example:
like the free "DoD mod"
shortcuts), you have to have that "mod"
downloaded and properly installed and
tested to work on the internet (we assume
you have done this already). If you do
NOT have a mod for a shortcut that is in
the download pack, the shortcut just
won't work (it won't hurt anything though).
This procedure has been tested with
Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP.

Download the zipped file
 "tic-servers-win-shortcuts-11jun03.zip" (5KB)(updated 11 June, 2003).
It contains a folder called "[TiC]Clan Servers' Windows Desktop Shortcut".
(Scan the download for viruses with a
virus scanner if you have Virus Scanner
software, you should do this every time
you download something.)
(The zipped "tic-servers-win-shortcuts.zip"
file contains a folder called "[TiC]Clan
Servers' Windows Desktop Shortcuts"
folder, which contains all the "Windows
Desktop Shortcuts" to launch you
into a game into on to each [TiC]Clan
server.) The date on the file changes as
we add and subtract shortcuts to servers
to that we get or part with.

UN-zip
the "tic-servers-win-shortcuts.zip"
file to your Windows Desktop, or some
other convenient place.
(If you don't already have an "UN-Zipper/Zipper"
software program, you can download and
use the free WinZip
unzip/zipper software.)

Now all
you have to do to join a [TiC]Clan
server, is to simply double LEFT click
the corresponding Desktop Shortcut, and
BAM,,, you will quickly and easily load
on to that server.
(NOTE: If the co-responding [TiC] server
is "temporarily down" and off
line, you will obviously not be able to
get on that server at that time). |

HOW TO EDIT OUR
SHORTCUTS (if needed):
(Use this, if you have your Half-Life installed
in a non-default directory.)
| 1. |
First
follow all the ABOVE "INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS:" .
|
| 2. |
You now need to find
out WHERE your "hl.exe" (main
Half-Life file) is installed.
To find out WHERE it is (the path to that file), you need to :
| A. |
Click
on Windows "START"
button on the lower left hand
corner of the screen.
(Another menu pops up.) |
| B. |
Click
on the "FIND" button on
the popup menu. (Another menu
pops up.) |
| C. |
Click
on the "FILES or FOLDERS".
(A "FIND" menu pops up.) |
| D. |
In
the "LOOK IN" box of
the "Find" menu, click
the arrow on the right hand side
of that dropdown box and select
"MY COMPUTER". |
| E. |
In
the "NAMED" box of the
"Find" menu, type in
"hl.exe" in that box. |
| F. |
Click
on the "FIND NOW"
button of the "Find"
menu.
( It will start to search for the
file.) |
| G. |
After a minute or 2, the location of your
"hl.exe" file should
show up
at the bottom of the "FIND"
menu in the "IN FOLDER"
column.
This is WHERE your "hl.exe"
is installed. (The default path is
"C:\SIERRA\Half-Life".) |

| 3. |
Now, you will need to
start EDITing the path to each of the
downloaded
"[TiC]Clan Window Desktop Shortcuts"
the "hl.exe" ad "icons".
| A. |
Go into your
"[TiC]Clan Servers' Windows
Desktop Shortcut" FOLDER and
RIGHT Click on the first shortcut. (a menu pops up) |
| B. |
Click on
"PROPERTIES". (a menu
pops up) |
| C. |
This new menu
should have (2) "tabs".
Make sure its "SHORTCUT"
tab is selected. |
| D. |
In its "TARGET"
box you will see something like
this:
C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game
tfc -numericping +connect
66.208.102.155:27015 |
| E. |
EDIT the
"TARGET" by replacing
the "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\" part with YOUR
non-default
path from STEP#2 .(this sets your
correct path to YOUR "hl.exe".) |
| F. |
NOW, you need
to click the "CHANGE ICON"
button of that menu.
(The "CHANGE ICON" menu
pops up.) |
| G. |
In its "FILE
NAME" box, you will see
something like this:
C:\SIERRA\HALF-L~1\cstrike\cstrike.ico |
| H. |
Replace the
"C:\SIERRA\HALF-L~1\" part with YOUR
path from STEP #2. |
| I. |
Click "OK".
(this closes the "CHANGE
ICON" menu.)
(this finalizes correction to the
path to the icon.) |
| J. |
Click "OK"
again. (This closes the "PROPERTIES"
menu for that shortcut).
(this finalizes correction to the
path to the hl.exe.) |

| 4. |
Repeat step #3 above
for each Shortcut, correcting it's path
to "hl.exe" and proper icon.
|
| 5. |
NOW, double LEFT click
on a corrected Shortcut to QUICKLY and
EASILY join on to a [TiC]Clan server. |
