[TiC]EVIL's
TFC Scripts:
(3-29-2001)
WARNING-READ FIRST !!:
Do NOT
DIRECTLY replace your default Half-Life files
with MY CUSTOM TFC .cfg files, or you will CRY. My files are
configured for MY computer, so you can NOT use then
without some modification, because you do not have EXACTLY
the same video card, sound card, or number of
buttons on your mouse or joystick as I do
probably, etc.
ALWAYS BACKUP
ALL of your ORIGINAL files BEFORE editing them
or replacing them, or you will CRY. Usually, a "script set"
takes a LOT of trial and error, back up your
files before each editing/experimenting
session and ever so often in case you make a
mistake. -IF- you make ONE simple typos in
any of your .cfg files, you can have a LOT of
bazaar problems, you might not be able
respawn in a game, and a lot of other weird
problems, etc. MAKE sure that the LAST line
at the bottom of any .cfg files has a "LINE
RETURN", go to the bottom of each .cfg
file to the very end of the last line on each
.cfg file and then hit your ENTER key
several times to put a "line return"
there . BETTER SAFE THEN SORRY !!!
"SCRIPT SETS"
ARE COMPLICATED:
I use a JOYSTICK and a
MOUSE and a KEYBOARD all at the same time to
play Half-life. I am right handed, but I use
the mouse in my left hand to aim turn up/down
and turn left/right. I use my joystick in my
right hand to run forward/backwards and to
strafe left/right. I use the keyboard for low
priorities keys and for bind "say/team
messages".
My TFC scripts are a "SCRIPT SET".
There are a few scripts that can be used for
each class (scout, sniper, soldier, etc,.......),
I also have a lot of special CLASS SPECIFIC
scripts. My class specific scripts are loaded
into the corresponding ".cfg" file
for which ever player class I select ('demoman
only scripts' are in the "demoman.cfg"
file). There is a config.cfg command setting
that will enable your individual "class.cfg"
files to load automatically when you switch
player classes, its setinfo "ec"
"1". So every time I switch player
classes in TFC, I have SOME buttons
automatically re-configured (re-bound) to
scripts for that new class. I also have a
"cleanup.cfg" file, that unbinds
JUST the buttons that are "recycled"
and they are then re-bound for each player
class specific scripts by that co-responding
classes class.cfg file. The "cleanup.cfg"
file is executed in everyone of my TFC class.cfg
files when I switch player classes, because
they each contain this line exec cleanup.cfg
. All my keyboard and mouse buttons stay
bound to the same keys as I switch classes,
except for my "F1"-"F11"
buttons. It is some of my joystick buttons
and keyboard "F1-11" buttons, that
are un-bound automatically (by cleanup.cfg
settings) then 're-bound' automatically (by
my class specific .cfg files' settings) when
I switch between classes.
When I first created my script set, I had to
actually write down on a piece of paper what
each key was bound to for each class, but
within a 2 weeks or 3, I could usually
remember them, now a year later, I hit the
correct button like a reflex.
JOYSTICK.CFG STRAFING
INSTEAD OF TURNING:
I have created a joystick.cfg
file that makes my joystick right/left
motions actually -STRAFE- you left right in
the game, INSTEAD of -TURN- you left right in
the game. I have used my "joystick.cfg"
file "as is" with these joysticks:
Thrustmaster "TOPGUN USB",
Thrustmaster "TOP GUN PLATINUM" (plugs
in to game port on my sound card), Logitech
"Wingman Interceptor", and several
2D Microsoft joysticks. My "joystick.cfg"
file will work with mostly ANY 2D joystick.
The "twisting type" ("3D"
joysticks) have (2) extra settings that
needed to be added to my joystick.cfg file to
have their "third axis" work. If
you want to learn more about joysticks and
Half-Life, read the C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\readme.txt file (on your computer), it contains a section on
joysticks and the creation and "tweaking"
of the joystick settings called "Half-Life
Joystick functionality". You will also
have to go into "ADVANCED Controls"
Menu and turn on (check) "JOYSTICK"
and turn OFF (UN-check) "JOYSTICK LOOK"
to get your joystick to work with that mod..
My "joystick.cfg" file will work
with ANY Half-life mod, just install it in the
"C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\" folder, and
each of your mods folders "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\tfc"
,"C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\valve" (deathmatch), "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\cstrike",
etc. Also don't forget to turn on the "joystick"
and turn off "joystick look" in
each mods' ADVANCED Controls menu
The Thrustmaster "TopGun USB"
joystick, that I currently use has a GREAT 4-way
"hat switch", a trigger, and 3
other buttons on its stick.
[TiC]EVIL's TFC Script
SET:
(for joystick / keyboard / mouse)
(24 March, 2001)
The links below allow you
to see a copy of my actual exact fully tested
individual .cfg files for each class in TFC.
It includes my "cleanup.cfg" and
joystick.cfg", "autoexec.cfg"
files, individual "class" scripts.
If you copy any scripts off this page make
sure you put a "LINE RETURN" (hit
your ENTER key) at the and of each script and
also at the the last line of the last script
at the bottom of each .cfg file you edit/create. Your
.cfg files will NOT have color in them. Be
VERY CAREFUL of any TYPOS !!
This is my COMPLETE TFC ".cfg" file
SET zipped up and ready for download:

(my 8 June, 2001 version fixed missing
"" in the dalter alias of my
spy.cfg 29 March, 2001 version)
These links go to
individuals web pages to display each of my
TFC .cfg files individually:
cleanup.cfg
joystick.cfg
autoexec.cfg
config.cfg
scout.cfg
sniper.cfg
soldier.cfg
demonman.cfg
medic.cfg
hwguy.cfg
pyro.cfg
spy.cfg
engineer.cfg
A SAMPLE
Autoexec.cfg file with handy TFC scripts:
Each script in
this "sample autoexec.cfg" file
below has a its own color. Each aliases' name
(the part that you would "bind") is
in the color RED. As always, back up your ORIGINAL
autoexec.cfg file (if
you do have one) first before experimenting. You will have to
MANUALLY bind each script in the console or by editing your config.cfg file
for TFC. Your ".cfg" files will NOT
have color in them. I hope these help you. This
SAMPLE autoexec.cfg file is pretty long. If
try to use ALL the scripts inside the sample
autoexec.cfg file in one big autoexec.cfg on
your computer, it may or may not work
properly, because of the files large size.
Click the link below to see what a typical
autoexec.cfg, that you would use, would look
like:
