[TiC]EVIL.'s Temporary "fix" for Half-Life Internet Connect "stall" problem:

This is a small download that replaces your default "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\valve\woncomm.lst" file with a TEMPORARY FIX if you are currently experiencing the "I can start Half-Life, but I can NOT play it ONLINE" PROBLEM. The problem is caused by a "DNS" problem that YOUR machine is having trying to find the WON authentication and other KEY Half-life servers. This fix works for Half-Life Deathmatch, TFC, DoD, Counter-Strike, Firearms Mod, etc, etc. This "TEMP FIX" woncomm.lst file replaces the "domain addresses" of SPECIAL KEY authentication servers with their "actual IP numbers".

IMPORTANT:
Before installing this version of "woncomm.lst" file, BACK UP and copy your ORIGINAL "woncomm.lst".

IMPORTANT:
In several days , you will probably want to RE-PLACE the temp replacement with the ORIGINAL "woncomm.lst" . In a few days the ORIGINAL file will probably work and would be the preferred version.

INSTALLATION STEPS:

1. BACKUP your original "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\valve\woncomm.lst" file (located on YOUR computer).

2. Click here to download [TiC]EVIL's woncomm.lst "I cant connect" problem TEMP "fix". (evils-woncommlst-fix-15feb03.zip 1KB 15feb03)

3. UN-ZIP the downloaded file (replacement "woncomm.lst").

4. Replace your original woncomm.lst file with the downloaded un-zipped one.

5. NOW you should be able to connect to Half-Life INTERNET games for any mod.

6. In 3-5 days, try switching BACK to your original woncomm.lst file (by then the correct DNS information should have "filtered down" through the internet behind the scenes to you.)
