The free "MyTuner"
software program allows you to change
channels on Roger Wilco (free voice
communication software program) without
leaving the game you are in. MyTuner adds
what is called "hot-key" channel
switching to Roger Wilco that
many flight squadrons and gaming clans so
desperately need. The following information
should help you install MyTuner
program and modify it's "Tuner.ini"
file to fit your gaming needs. MyTuner has
only been tested with Windows NT 4.0 and
Windows 98, 98 Second Edition using Roger
Wilco Mark 1c. We estimate that over 10,ooo+
users have downloaded and use MyTuner. With
the MyTuner Program you can update the Tuner.ini file
with up to 25 command lines of your choice.
How
to install the MyTuner Program:
- Extract all files from
the MyTuner zip file to a temporary
directory.
- Then run the setup.exe
program. This will create a directory
in your "Program Files"
called "MyTuner". Example:
"C:\Program
Files\MyTuner\"
Setting
up the MyTuner "Tuner.ini" file:
(with your RW IPs & channels &
passwords & desired commands.)
When the setup.exe program has
finished installing the MyTuner program you
must do the following:
- Open you Windows
Explorer and go to the location
where the program is installed.
C:\Program
Files\MyTuner\ .
- In the above
directory path you will find the
file named "Tuner.ini". Double click
on the Tuner.ini file and open it
with the Window's NOTEPAD program.
- This is where you
will need to input YOUR
IP numbers you want
to use for Roger Wilco base
station and YOUR RW
Channel names.
When you first open the
"Tuner.ini"
file it will look like this:
(This is just the install Default Tuner.ini
file and may or may not work,
because the RogerWilco.com RW base station
may or may not be operational when you test
your MyTuner settings). You
must change the default IP numbers (URLs)
listed in the Tuner.ini file to the IP
numbers for your Roger Wilco base station and
enter your RW channel names.)
(NOTE: The lines below have been numbered on
this web page for this explaination.)
1. CTRL-Z=/join1
www.rogerwilco.com/redteam
2.
CTRL-X=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/blueteam
3.
CTRL-C=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/private
secret
4.
CTRL-V=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/yellowteam
5.
CTRL-B=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/terrorist
6.
CTRL-N=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/counter-terrorist
7.
CTRL-M=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/chat
8.
SHIFT-Z=/leave
9. CTRL-SHIFT-Z=/callsign
DogBreath
10. CTRL-NUMPAD2=/callsign
MonkeyMeat
11. F2=/key
PAD_5
12. SHIFT-F3=/clicks

13.
SHIFT-F4=/volume 255
14.
SHIFT-F5=/volume 1
15. SHIFT-F6=/priority
high
16.
F3=/netspeed 48
CHANGE the IP
numbers and CHANNEL names to your RW base
station's info:
Where you see "www.rogerwilco.com/redteam"
on line 1 above, change this to the IP
number and
"/" and
channel name you want to use for
CTRL Z command. The do the same for the
lines # 1-7 above.
Example: 1a.
CTRL-Z=/join1 100.123.254.158/goatcheese
(Save the file once you have setup
all the channels or commands you want
to use).
TO ADD A PASSWORDED
CHANNEL:
If you wanted to add a passworded
channel, you would change the IPnumber/channelname
information then include a SPACE and type
in your desired password.
Example: 1b.
CTRL-Z=/join1 100.123.254.158/goatcheese
yoursecretpasswd
(Save the file once you have setup
all the channels or commands you want
to use).
This is an example of an
edited Tuner.ini file:
(Note: The IP numbers used in this
example goes to the www.rogerwilco.com
base station that may or may NOT be
operational when
you do your test). You can use a URL
in place of an IP number if your RW base
station is set up that way.
Example Tuner.ini:
CTRL-Z=/join1 205.240.163.12/mytuner1
CTRL-X=/join1 205.240.163.12/mytuner2
CTRL-C=/join1 205.240.163.12/mytuner3
CTRL-V=/join1 205.240.163.12/mytuner_ch4
CTRL-B=/join1 205.240.163.12/mytuner5
passwd1
CTRL-N=/join1 205.240.163.12/mytuner_ch6
passwd2
CTRL-M=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/mytuner_ch7
passwd3
SHIFT-Z=/leave
CTRL-SHIFT-Z=/callsign [DB]DogBreath
CTRL-NUMPAD2=/callsign [MM]MonkeyMeat
F2=/key PAD_5
SHIFT-F3=/clicks off
SHIFT-F4=/volume 255
SHIFT-F5=/volume 1
SHIFT-F6=/priority high
F3=/netspeed 48
HOW
TO USE THE MYTUNER PROGRAM:
Changing a Channel:
On line 1 above, if you
first hold down the Ctrl button and then
the "Z" button the RogerWilco
channel would be changed while in the
middles of a game. (The same happens on
line 1 7.)
Example:
CTRL-Z=/join1 www.rogerwilco.com/redteam
Leaving RogerWilco:
On line 8 of the example
above lets you leave all channels on
RogerWilco.
Example: So if you hold
down the SHIFT and then the Z button
you will leave all channels.
Example:
SHIFT-Z=/leave
Changing Your Name On
RogerWilco:
On line 9 & 10 on the
above example lets you change your game
name in Roger Wilco. So if you hold down
the CTRL-SHIFT Z buttons your RogerWilco
name would be changed to "DogBreath"
.If you hold down the CTRL-NUMPAD2
buttons your RogerWilco name would be
changed to "MonkeyMeat".
Examples:
CTRL-SHIFT-Z=/callsign DogBreath
CTRL-NUMPAD2=/callsign MonkeyMeat
Your Transmit Key:
(Note: you may want to
set this up in the Roger Wilco program
not MyTuner.)
Line 11 is the key you have setup as
your transmit key.In the example this
command would change the transmit key to
the number 5 on your number keypad.
Examples:
F2=/key PAD_5
Mike Clicks:
(Note: you may want to
set this up in the Roger Wilco program
not MyTuner)
Line 12 is the keys that will turn
off the mike Clicks. So if you hold down
the SHIFT and the F3 button the mike
clicks will turn off.
Examples:
SHIFT-F3=/clicks off
Volume Control:
(Note: you may want to
set this up in the Roger Wilco program
not MyTuner)
Line 13 and 14 allow you to turn up
the volume control up or down.
SHIFT-F4=/volume 255
SHIFT-F5=/volume 1
Priority Level:
(Note: you may want to
set this up in the Roger Wilco program
not MyTuner)
Line 15 will set the CPU to high
level. If your computer is less than a
Pentium II or Celeron class processor, do
not use this setting in the MyTuner
program. Change the setting in the Roger
Wilco program to Use Less CPU.
Examples:
SHIFT-F6=/priority high
Internet Connection Speed:
(Note: you may want to
set this up in the Roger Wilco program
not MyTuner)
Line 16 will change the Internet
connection speed to T1.
Examples:
F3=/netspeed 48
HOW
TO RUN THE MYTUNER PROGRAM:
First open the Roger Wilco
program.
Now open the
MyTuner Program. (see below.)

The window will
open that looks like this. (See below)

The first time you open the
MyTuner Program all of the settings will
display. This program needs to be running for
the MyTuner program to work.
The 3 boxes at the bottom of the window
currently are only there to display debug
information: They show the current status of
the CTRL, SHIFT, and assigned keys.

The 4 boxes to the right (Channel,
Hot Key, Roger Wilco Channel, Password) have
no use at this time but my in the future.
The first time you use one of the settings (CTRL
Z) the display panel in the MyTuner program
will change to that setting only. So if you
cant remember your settings print out
the Tuner.ini file
this will help you until you remember them.
